Magnum Pop-up in NYC

AHHHH this was one of my favorite things ever! Magnum did a pop up store in New York where you can customize your own ice cream popsicle. It was so fun and the store was so cute. You get to pick your base, chocolate coating, and toppings.

The entire store is decorated so cutely and they also have little boxes with backgrounds where you can take insta-worthy photos of your creation... genius.

Sadly it's closed now but I believe they will be having one again soon!

Ample Hills Creamery

I've seen Ample Hills Creamery on Food Network before and have always wanted to try but was too lazy to trek to Brooklyn. Therefore I was so glad to find out that it had an outpost in Gotham West Market! I got the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and the Salted Crack Caramel. I loved the Ooey Gooey flavor better but the caramel was still very delicious. The ice cream was incredibly creamy and decadent and I will definitely be back to try their other flavors. Victory Garden

I stumbled upon Victory Garden when I was searching online for rose flavored ice cream. Unfortunately I was unable to try it since it was a seasonable flavor and no longer available when I went, but the ice cream that I had there was absolutely delicious anyways. A and I went here after our lunch (previous post) and loved our sweet treat. But seriously... best day ever: SoulCycle, brunch, then ice cream?!

Victory Garden has very unique flavors of goat's soft serve and frozen yogurt and I highly recommend everyone go try it out! We ordered the seasonable flavor of pumpkin pie with ginger (?) cookies and it was divine.

Big Gay Ice Cream

With a name like that, Big Gay Ice Cream is sure to attract some attention and it definitely caught mine. What started out as an ice cream truck now has several outposts in New York and its popularity does not seem to be waning any time soon! The shop had cute and colorful decorations and these yummy treats were perfect for a summer day.

The Salty Pimp - Vanilla Ice Cream, Dulce de Leche, Sea Salt, and Chocolate Dip
This is the shop's most popular item and while it is not exactly a unique flavor, I can see why. The ice cream is very silky and creamy and instead of merely swirling the dulce de leche on top, it is actually punctured into the ice cream which ensures decadent sweetness in every bite. The sea salt was not too prominent but the chocolate dip was perfectly crunchy. I think this is a great choice for a more classic approach but I actually preferred M's choice (below) more.

Mmmmmm this was so yummy! The crushed wafers gave this a fluffy yet crunchy aspect which was really interesting and delicious. The vanilla wafer flavor was also quite strong which I loved and it went really well with the caramel-y taste of the dulce de leche. 

I thoroughly enjoyed my cone and while I was hoping for more unique flavors, I would definitely come again and try other flavors, however, sometimes I see a massive line and I probably would not stand in a long line for this!

Ice Cream Lab

After our tasty lunch at Il Tramezzino, we went to check out a ice cream shop opened by J's friend. People from Hong Kong are familiar with Lab Made in Tai Hang and I was excited to see how the nitrogen ice cream of LA compares. The ice cream was delectable and very smooth but I do think that Lab Made has more interesting flavors. Both flavors were expressed well and had yummy condiments to match. The space was full of light and funky and the staff was friendly.
