Dominique Ansel's Cronut

Last semester, a few days after arriving in New York I was already lucky enough to have a bite of the most coveted item at the time! My friend had a hook up who was able to get 3 of these legendary pastries and was nice enough to share a bite with me! I was extremely excited to try this because there was no way I would line up at 5 am for hours for a pastry. Unfortunately the cronut was quite underwhelming. I felt that maybe it was because it wasn't super fresh because we picked it up in the afternoon but either way even if it was piping hot I can't imagine it to be worth the hype and wait. It wasn't bad, but just nothing that was particularly amazing or mind blowing. It tasted exactly how you would expect... a deep fried croissant with sweet cream inside.

My friend said that she actually preferred the DKA so perhaps I will give those a try if I pass by but I hear that those also sell out quickly.

Sarabeth's

Sarabeth's is a very popular brunch spot in NYC so you better expect a long long wait on weekends! The decor is very cute and the food was delicious! I got the crab cake sandwich and it was very tasty but I felt that the crab to bun ratio was a bit off. The fries and salad was also well made. I would definitely want to come back again but maybe for dinner. I would return for brunch as well but I don't feel any urgency in doing so.

Kat'z Deli

Katz Deli is a New York institution that has been around since 1888. Their pastrami is known to be the best and I can definitely say that it is the best pastrami I've ever had (even though I am not a pastrami expert!). I am quite certain there has been a post on this blog about Katz already. T and I went here and had tons of leftovers after. It was a must eat for him when he came to visit again! I think it's smart to come on a weekday because it gets super packed on weekends.

Luke's Lobster

Luke's Lobster is famous for... you guessed it! Lobster rolls! I've always wanted to try this (story of my life) and finally went to T in my first semester. The clam chowder was also super yummy. We got the 3 roll sampler and our least favorite was the shrimp. The crab was also super flavorful and the lobster was just to die for. The bun was super buttery and perfectly toasted and the lobster chunks were juicy and sweet. There are various locations and we visited the Upper West Side location, its a cute little spot and is nice for people watching and a quick lunch. A must visit if you love lobster rolls!
