Sushi Take

Another sushi porn post! J was visiting from Cambridge with his bf A and I was super excited to catch up with him. He said that he loved sushi and there were limited option in the UK so I was more than happy to take him to one of my favorite sushi restaurants. I ordered the sushi lunch set over my usual hokkaido bowl and it was delicious! Everything was super fresh and there was a great balance of lighter flavored fish and then more fatty types that were seared. Apart from the nigiri there was also a chopped toro scallion handroll.

Ok so these photos are seriously dug up from the depths of my phone and probably over 2 years old. I had a dinner with A at Etsu Sushi one night and totally forgot/didn't bother to make this post. The food was Etsu was fine, but nothing spectacular that would warrant a trek to Tin Hau. The restaurant also felt quite worn out and old. Some dishes were interesting such as the grilled scallops with truffle and the DYI toro rolls, but not memorable enough for me to pick Etsu over my usual favorites of Take, Shin, or Kuu. The quality and price was decent, but I would not return for a 2nd visit! However, this could be a good choice if you are/live in the area.

En was on my list of to try restaurant so it was perfect when I found out that C was having her birthday dinner there! The food was really yummy and I would love to return again. The atmosphere was very comfortable and we had a great time! The cod was not as amazing as I thought it would be though but it was still quite good. Perhaps it was because we had a special birthday menu and there was a lot to make/the food was split for a lot of people so that may have impacted it slightly.

Ricky's Fish Tacos

Fish tacos are my newest obsession and Ricky's Fish Tacos is the undisputed place to get the best fish tacos in LA so I knew that no matter what I had to eat here. Ricky's is not opened everyday and it's not set in an actual restaurant setting so remember to check out his twitter to make sure you don't end up empty handed and disappointed! Ricky was super friendly and the food was made fresh to order. I did not care too much for the shrimp taco but the fish taco was the BOMB. The fish was extremely fluffy and was encased in a delicious crunchy and flavorful batter. The cabbage was nice and crunchy and all the sauces were also packed full of flavor and spice. I will definitely hunt down this mecca of fish tacos again the next time I am in LA. SO good.
